Responsible to learning how to enhance the overall Resident experience by assisting with the fitness program, providing the residents opportunities for participation in all Fitness programming.  This health and fitness approach to daily life for our resident's encompasses use of Techno Gym equipment, personal plans and holistic wellness. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch® friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, resulting in a very high level of Resident satisfaction.  This position is under the general guidance of the Fitness Coordinator in accordance with Community standards, processes, procedures, practices and philosophy. 
 

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in Start Sterling every shift.
  • Greet the Residents, guests, fellow employees and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner. 
  • Participate and observe personal training sessions and group fitness classes.
  • Learn how to adjust and operate all community fitness equipment including the Techno Gym electronic health tracking systems. 
  • Learn how to enter fitness data into system and how to track progress.
  • Observe and assist with quarterly fitness challenges and educating resident's and staff about fitness and wellness. 
  • Provide general cleaning and maintenance of the Fitness Center.
  • Assist with marketing fitness and wellness to residents and outside groups. 
  • Assist with research for monthly Lunch and Learns.
  • Other duties as requested.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a University or College program majoring in:
    •  Health & Human Physiology; 
    • Health & Sports Science; 
    • Exercise Science; o
    • Exercise & Sports Science; 
    • Exercise & Health Science; 
    • Physiology; 
    • Kinesiology; 
    • Physical Therapy; or
    • Similar Program
  • Certified or currently pursuing a certification, highly preferred:   
    • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); 
    • Certified Personal Trainer American Council on Exercise (ACE);  
    • Personal Trainer Certification National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM);
    • Certified Personal Trainer National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF); or 
    • Similar Certification

 

Experience:
 

  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Health & Wellness or Fitness.   
  • Able to dedicate 20 hours per week for 60-90 days.   
    • Schedule: M/W/F 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and T/TH 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
