The Chauffeur & Maintenance Assistant is responsible for providing opportunities for transporting residents to the grocery store, monthly outings and extended trips as scheduled. You will also assist the maintenance team with general labor needs, repairs for the Community to include; all public areas, apartments, corridors, heart of the house, exterior areas of building, grounds and landscaping. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch® friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, resulting in a very high level of Resident satisfaction. This position is under the general guidance of the Maintenance Engineer Director in accordance with Community standards, processes, procedures, practices and philosophy.


Essential Functions:

  • Participate in Start Sterling! line up each day.
  • Greet the Residents, guests and employees in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to all Resident requests.
  • Drive van, bus or automobile to meet resident needs and in accordance with scheduled appointments and Facets™ calendar of events.
  • Assist Director of Facets™ or Facets™ Coordinator in assisting residents on and off bus/van, tracking attendance and coordinating equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, canes etc.).
  • Load groceries and other purchased items into bus/van.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and assist with routine Community vehicle maintenance.
  • Clean and wash vehicle.
  • Establish and maintain high cleanliness, sanitation and organizational standards in all apartments, public areas and heart of the house work and storage areas.
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing all areas in accordance with the established Community Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Immediately correct and report any unusual findings or safety hazards.
  • Document all work performed in an apartment, public areas, heart of the house and exterior using the established process.
  • Assist with setting up and taking down patio furniture.
  • Assist in ensuring the building and grounds are walked daily for light bulb replacement and maintenance needs.
  • Assist in keeping all maintenance Records and Log Books updated daily.
  • Know and understand Community's emergency, life safety and security procedures and requirements.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Training in building maintenance/engineering including HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, preferred.

Experience:

  • Prefer experience working in senior living community, hospital, residential, hotel or similar building engineering environment.

Licenses or certificates:

  • Valid Driver's License in the state of South Dakota.

 

Schedule:

  • Part-Time Hours
  • Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Must be able to work Saturday and Sunday.
